Shingle Installation

The correct way to nail a shingle to your roof is just below the tack line. Incorrect fastening can void manufacturer warranty.

This picture illustrates a high nailed shingle. Because of the high nailing, this roof can experience major wind damage. Also, nailing above the tack line can result in fewer nails per shingle.

Other problems with installation can be the use of nail guns. At times the installer will be exceptionally quick and may angle the gun wrong, thus the nail goes in at an angle and will eventually create a "nail pop". These nail pops are, in fact, now a hole in your roof.

Flashing

Flashing is very important. We have been out on several repairs where flashing was not addressed properly.  Below shows a repair done recently. The old roof was still  attached to the step flash when they put the new roof on. Consequently the roof leaked. We were called out to inspect it and found  poor installation there and around the chimney.
